While Samsung was busy getting ready for the previous Galaxy Unpacked event, we have got some rumors from China which claim that the South Korean tech giant will begin the development of two new series, Galaxy P and Galaxy R. Besides that, these two series will be the replacement for the Galaxy J series as it will be discontinued next year.
Other rumors would be that a Nvidia veteran was hired by the company to work on their mobile GPU. It looks like Apple will soon get some competition as this company does not have their own GPU but they have been using a custom-designed A-Series SoCs on its iPhone models. Samsung might even win the market with this strategy. A few years ago in 2015, Apple decided that they would start working on their own GPU just for the sake of better Virtual Reality experiences, but that has not happened.
Samsung Galaxy P30 Mid-range
These two series will no be flagship phones, Galaxy P will be a low-end series, and Galaxy R will be a mid-range series, according to the Chinese tipster that has been updating us with information from their Twitter account @MMDDJ. What we know so far is that from those two new series, one of them will have Samsung as the ODM (the original design manufacturer) and that would be the Galaxy P series. That also translates as Samsung will not manufacture the Galaxy P on their own they will only get the design ready.
This strategy has the aim to reduce the cost burden of Samsung because if they are not manufacturing those smartphones at their own facility, then the company will not have the need to invest in the production process. Now that they will stick to the ODM route instead if that is accurate, Samsung will be part of the small group of Android vendors that do not manufacture their projects intrinsically.
The Galaxy P series is scheduled to launch for the first time in China. According to a new report, the fingerprint of the first phone of the series will be mounted in the display, and they might be called Galaxy P30+ and Galaxy P30. Another report estimated that the phones would be available in two storage variants and in quite of a range of colors. As we mentioned, these two phones will have the GPUs of the company integrated which is quite a big move for Samsung.
The storage variants of the Samsung Galaxy P30 will be 128GB and 64GB according to the sources of Sammobile, and the colors will be red, pink, black, blue. This range of colors will satisfy any buyer of this new series. The Galaxy P30 will have one of these colors as the base, but the design will be a gradient. It kind of gives this mid-range phone some elegance. These two series are expected to launch before this year ends which means that you might get an idea of a Christmas Present for someone.
Exynos processors will power these mid-range phones, and they will be equipped with 4GB or 3GB of RAM depending on the storage variant you choose. Another speculation would be that the phone might receive dual rear cameras just because many companies that sell Android smartphones has been introducing this facility to their phones.
The Galaxy A7 2018 was already launched by Samsung in India, and it is sporting even a triple camera setup in the rear of the phone, and the fingerprint sensor is mounted on the side. The company is said to have a smartphone with four rear cameras in the pipeline as well.
